I have been teaching swim lessons for 30 years. My love is teaching children to swim and to feel successful as they do it. I work with all ages. Having worked in the aquatic industry has allowed me to receive experience multiple "learn to swim" programs. I have been able to pull the best of all these programs to offer your swimmer(s) the best experience. Come to my facility or I will travel to yours.

Philosophy:
Kids should love swimming. I work with swimmers to gain their trust so that they are comfortable with what I ask them to try. I challenge swimmers and push them to maximize their potential. My approach focuses on survival skills first. This is because if a child falls into water I want them to have skills to survival. If they fall in they need to be able to rollover and float until someone can get to them. Once they have the basic survival skills i move into locomotion and then swimming strokes. We also go over safety rules for swimming.
I do not allow goggles until the swimmer can successfully complete their survival rollovers (unless medically necessary). This is because if a child accidentally falls in they won't have their goggles on so learning how to be in the water without them in key.
Parents do not need to get in. Your job is cheerleader, hugs / kisses.
I do not teach during thunder or lightning storms (this includes indoor facilities). We will need to exit the pool for 20 min from the last sound or thunder or sight of lightning. This follows national safety guidelines.
